Special Project Applications

The INS Special Project Committee invites INS members with doctoral (or equivalent) degrees to apply for a non-recurring, grant of up to $5,000 to support innovative research or clinical activities. Funds may be applied to existing or new projects at the discretion of the recipient, but should make a novel contribution in either case. Early career applicants are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to projects with an international focus and those that promote justice and equity. Applications should be no more than one page including a high-level budget. Submissions should be sent to the attention of the Special Project Committee (specialprojectsfund@the-ins.org). The deadline for submission is October 15, 2025.

Fellow of the International Neuropsychological Society (FINS)

INS is pleased to announce the establishment of the Fellow of the International Neuropsychological Society (FINS) designation. This new recognition has been created to honor members who have demonstrated meaningful and sustained contributions to the Society over time.

The FINS designation is independent from other awards and honors within INS and is intended to acknowledge a broad range of impactful contributions, including leadership roles, scholarly activities, mentorship, editorial service, meeting participation, and other significant forms of engagement. Eligibility requires a minimum of five years of continuous professional membership in INS, along with documented service and achievement in one or more recognized areas.

While FINS serves as a distinct honor in recognition of individual dedication and service, it is important to highlight that that proceeds from FINS applications will be directed to the Matthews Fund, one of INS’s major initiatives supporting education, training, and global engagement in neuropsychology.  This is a one-time fee, equal to a single year of INS membership.

We are delighted to share that the inaugural class of FINS recipients will be inducted during the February North American Meeting in Philadelphia. This ceremony will mark the beginning of what we expect to be a lasting tradition of recognizing excellence and commitment within our membership.

Application Information The criteria for FINS membership are included below. INS members seeking FINS recognition should complete the online application by October 31, with formal feedback expected by December 31. A one-time application fee will be assessed, equivalent to the cost of one year’s member dues.

Criteria for FINS Membership Applicants must have continuous, active, dues-paying INS professional membership for a minimum of five years and meet at least one of the following contribution criteria (which may be met at any time during active membership):

  • Service to INS: Held an elected leadership position, chaired/co-chaired a major committee or Special Interest Group (SIG), served as an active member of a major committee or SIG for at least three years, or demonstrated significant service in other recognized roles.
  • Meeting Attendance: Attended at least four INS North American or Mid-Year Meetings in the past five years.
  • Scholarly Contributions: Delivered at least three INS presentations as presenting author, organized an INS symposium, CE course, webinar, or NavNeuro podcast, or published at least one first- or senior-author paper in JINS.
  • Editorial Service: Served on the JINS Editorial Board, recognized as an Exceptional Ad Hoc Reviewer, or served as an INS Program abstract reviewer for at least two cycles.
  • Awards and Recognition: Received an INS award (e.g., Early Career, Distinguished Career, Lifetime Contribution).
  • Mentorship: Served as a mentor through the INS Global Mentoring Committee for at least two years for a minimum of two mentees.
  • INS Member Support: Applicants must include the names of two INS members in good standing who have agreed to be contacted in support of FINS application.

We know the turnaround is short, but applications are due October 31 so we can proudly introduce the very first group of FINS neuropsychologists at the 2026 North American INS Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. You must complete the application and pay the one-time application fee by October 31 to be considered for the Philadelphia meeting.

INS Committees

The International Neuropsychological Society has several permanent committees that exist to assist the Board of Governors with society operations, as well as ad hoc committees that are formed as needed. INS members are encouraged to become more involved in the Society by serving on INS permanent and ad-hoc committees.

INS SIGs Special Interest Groups

Are you looking for a way to connect with other INS members who share an interest in a specialized area of neuropsychology? Do you look forward to discussing professional issues, recent research, or the future of our field with others?

The INS special interest groups (SIGs) provide a forum for INS members with common interests to come together during INS meetings, for the purpose of sharing recent research, discussing professional issues, and interacting informally.
