Dr. Marcel Kinsbourne, an eminent, highly distinguished pediatric neurologist and cognitive neuroscientist, died on April 21, 2024 at the age of 92. He made fundamental and far reaching contributions to the fields of neurology, psychiatry, psychology and neuropsychology.

Eileen Fennell

Dr. Eileen Fennell, Ph.D., ABPP, Professor Emerita in the University of Florida Department of Clinical & Health Psychology, passed away on September 30, 2023, at the age of 81.

Karen Postal

Karen Postal, Ph.D., ABPP CN board-certified neuropsychologist, renowned author, and clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School passed away March 20th, 2023 due to ovarian cancer.

Allan F. Mirsky

Allan F. Mirsky passed away on Feb. 3, 2023, the morning after his 94th birthday, after a long and highly distinguished career in neuropsychology.

David Garron

David Garron, Ph.D., ABPP CN passed away at home in Wilmette, Illinois on April 9 at the age of 90.

Harvey Steven Levin, PhD passed away peacefully on April 1, 2022.

Michael Corballis

With great sadness we acknowledge the passing of Emeritus Professor Michael (Mike) Corballis at age 85.

Muriel Deutsch Lezak

Dr. Muriel Deutsch Lezak, 1927-2021. American neuropsychologist best known for her book Neuropsychological Assessment, widely accepted as the standard in the field. She held a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Chicago, and earned a PhD (Clinical Psychology) from the University of Portland in 1960.

Mortimer Mishkin

Dr. Mortimer Mishkin, December 13, 1926 – October 2, 2021. American neuropsychologist, and winner of the 2009 National Medal of Science awarded in Behavior and Social Science has passed away. Mort Mishkin died at the age of 94 years old.

Alfredo Ardila

Dr. Alfredo Ardila, September 4th, 1946 – January 9th, 2021. It is with very heavy hearts that we say farewell to him. There are no words to describe the void that he leaves. We will always miss him, but we will never forget him.

Donald T. Stuss

Dr. Donald Thomas Stuss, September 26, 1941 – September 3, 2019. Don passed away peacefully in his home in Toronto at the age of 77. He was born in Sudbury and grew up in Kitchener-Waterloo, the second child (after his sister Sonia) of Ann (nee Maga) and Nicholas Stuss. Don had a remarkable and distinguished scientific career with unconventional beginnings.

F. Frank LeFever

Dr. F. Frank LeFever, was born July 7, 1931 in Burwell, Nebraska. An intellectually curious, extremely bright student from the start, Dr. LeFever was recognized early-on for his desire to amass a broad, complex body of knowledge which could be applied to more specific problems.

John E. Auerbach

John E. Auerbach, 97, of Atlanta GA, formerly Homewood IL, died April 18, 2019. Only child of late John A. and Rose (VonHuben) Auerbach of Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood, he was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Muriel.

Robert James Ivnik

Robert James Ivnik (Bob), age 69, Loveland, CO died peacefully at home on January 20, 2019 with close family present.

Anne-Lise Christensen

Anne‐Lise Christensen, MA, Psychology, Adjunct Professor Emerita of Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, University of Copenhagen, and former director of the Center for Brain Injury Rehabilitation at the University of Copenhagen, died February 11, 2018.

Larry Seidman

Dr. Larry Seidman, an eminent neuropsychologist, died suddenly on September 7, 2017. He was 67. Dr. Seidman was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School for over 30 years, including positions in the Harvard Department of Psychiatry (Professor, Psychology) and Massachusetts Mental Center Public Psychiatry Division at Beth Israel Deaconess (Vice Chair, Research).

Gerald Goldstein

Renowned neuro- psychologist, Gerald Goldstein, who was known for his substantive research and service contributions to the field of neuropsychology, died Saturday, April 8, 2017. He was 85 years old.

James C. Reed

James C. Reed, Ph.D., 91, of Wayland, died peacefully and comfortably at his home on Sunday, September 25, 2016, after a brief illness, having seemingly been in good health two weeks earlier.

Otfried Spreen

Otfried Spreen, Passed away November 29, 2015 at the age of 89. Predeceased by his wife Georgia in 2006; survived by daughters Stephanie Dand, Sonya Bates, Julia Balcom and son Thomas Spreen, as well as eight grandchildren.

Karl H. Pribram

Karl H. Pribram, the eminent brain scientist, psychologist and philosopher, died of cancer on January 19, 2015, at age 95, at his home in Virginia. Dr. Pribram has been called the “Magellan of the Mind” for his pioneering research into the functions of the brain’s limbic system, frontal lobes, temporal lobes, and their roles in decision making and emotion.

Louis Costa

Dr. Louis Costa died in Arizona on March 12, 2013 at the age of 80. Costa came to the Department of Psychology in 1978 from City College in New York where he had trained and had been chair of the Psychology Department.

Byron Rourke

Dr. Byron Rourke, had died unexpectedly on August 10, 2011 at his home that morning. Dr. Rourke was one of the founding editors of Child Neuropsychology, as well as several other journals. He also served the field through leadership in many professional organizations, including presidencies of the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology, Division 40 of the Ame1ican Psychological Association, and the International Neuropsychological Society.

Paul Satz

Paul Satz, Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry & Biobehavioral Sciences, passed away on Sunday, June 20th, 2010 in Lihue, HI, following an admirable battle with cancer. From 1981 to 2002 Dr. Satz established at UCLA one of the world’s largest and most successful training and research programs in Neuropsychology — the study of brain-behavior relations.

Edith Kaplan

Edith Kaplan (1924-2009), known as the “Mother of Neuropsychology”, died September 3 in Lexington, MA. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she attended Brooklyn College, where she studied with and was strongly influenced by Heinz Werner.

Arthur Benton

Arthur Benton, beloved husband of the late Rita, died December 27, 2006 from complications of emphysema, in Glenview, Illinois.Loving father of Raymond Benton (Nina), Abigail Sivan (Milton Harris), and Daniel Benton (Nancy Hauserman). Devoted grandfather of Jeffrey Benton, Ori Sivan (Claudia Regojo), and Ofer Sivan (Amber Neville). Fond brother-in-law of Joan Rogers.

Manfred Meier

Manfred Meier, died at age 77 in Mexico on August 27, 2006, after a one-year battle with lung cancer. Dr. Meier is one of the most influential figures in the establishment of clinical neuropsychology as a specialty field. He completed a bachelor’s degree (1952), a master’s degree (1953), and a doctorate (1956) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison all in psychology.

Norman Geschwind

Norman Geschwind, died suddenly by a heart attack and cardiac arrest on November 4th, 1984 at the age of 58. He was born in New York City on January 8, 1926.
